Put away the sword!
Hebrews 4:15
Jesus became full human. Jesus understood temptation and suffering. He lowered himself and came down to our level! Just becoming a man was not enough! He needed to defeat sin! Jesus remained righteous and remained faithful!
Matthew 26:47-56
Judas betrays Jesus with an intimate greeting! With a kiss! Jesus responds with love and calls him friend. How tempted was Jesus through this whole process? Jesus could have cursed Judas. Jesus could have responded with authority to the ones who wanted to arrest him! Put away the sword! How tempting would it have been for Jesus to use his power? So many temptations.
Mark 10:42-45 Jesus is inviting us to partner with him to be a peace maker!
1 Peter 2:21-25
Have I entrusted myself to him who judges justly? Peter once carried a sword to defend himself and control a situation! Here Jesus has taught him to put down his sword and trust God plan!
The word is the sword we have been given to fight the spiritual battle. Our battle is not against flesh and blood! We have been given the spiritual weapon that we need to fight!
When we have been wronged how do we respond? Jesus fought back with love, forgiveness, compassion, humility, meekness, and with his own life!
Philippians 2:6-11
Jesus would be exalted but his exaltation did not come until he death and resurrection!
